Kannen Crossland from Spring, Texas, has announced his verbal commitment to the admission process* at Princeton University. He will join the Tigers with swimmers Jonny Palamar, Jack Cunningham, and Cade Vieler, and diver #5 Max Van Stone in the fall of 2027. He confirmed to SwimSwam:

I also want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me throughout the years. I’m extremely excited for what is to come. Go Tigers!”
A junior at Klein High School, Crossland swims year-round with Premier Aquatics Club of Klein and specializes in distance freestyle and open water racing. He is coming off a successful Speedo Winter Junior Championships -West, where he clocked lifetime bests in the 200 free (1:39.35), 500 free (4:23.70), 1000 free (9:05.72), and 1650 free (15:16.63). Notably, he dropped 2.5 seconds in the 500 free (and finished 13th), 17.7 seconds in the 1000 (7th), and 28 seconds in the mile (10th).
Last summer, he placed 3rd in the 7.5km race at Open Water Junior Nationals and attended USA Swimming’s Open Water National Select Camp. In the pool, he logged PBs and in the 100 free (53.97), 200 free (1:54.03), 400 free (4:03.78), and 800 free (8:25.08) at Justin Futures, and then lowered his 400 (4:01.85) and 800 (8:20.47) times at Summer Junior Nationals.
As a sophomore last February, he came in 4th in the 500 free (4:26.56) and 11th in the 200 free (1:39.64) at the Texas UIL 6A State Championships. He also anchored the 200 free relay (21.52) and 400 free relay (45.64).
Crossland’s times would already score at the Ivy League Men’s Championships. He would have placed 10th in the mile last year and 11th in the 1000 free (the Ivy League still sponsors the event at the men’s conference meet), and he would have been a ‘C’ finalist in the 500 free.

The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
