Former Auburn defensive back Carlton Davis III is in his eighth season in the NFL and in his first season with the New England Patriots.
After winning Super Bowl LV as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Davis is looking to add a second ring to his collection. Entering Sunday’s AFC Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans, he had been credited with 11 career interceptions, but none in the postseason.
That changed late in the first quarter.
With less than two minutes to play in the opening period and the Patriots leading the Texans 7-3, Davis dove to pick off CJ Stroud’s pass near the left sideline. Here’s a video of the interception, as seen on ESPN and ABC:

New England quarterback Drake Maye ended up fumbling the ball to set up a short field for the Texans, who took a 10-7 lead after Stroud connected with Christian Kirk from 10 yards out.
Davis played for Auburn for three seasons, producing at a high level throughout his college career. He was named a Freshman All-American in 2015 and was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2017.
