Happy Sunday, Bulls fans!
We’ve got a game tonight… other than the Bears. How about an immediate Chicago vs. Brooklyn rematch? After the Bulls failed to complete the comeback on Friday, they get a third crack at the Nets. At this point, it might not even be in the Bulls’ best interest to win this one, but as they keep hovering just under .500, you already know what’s coming. They’ll find a way to win, pull themselves right back to the middle, and keep the cycle alive.
Let’s jump into some Bulls bullets. Oh, and Bears down!
© Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images Groundhog Day isn’t until February 2, but it feels like we’ve been here before as Bulls fans. With Friday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Chicago Bulls sit at 19–22 at the halfway mark of the season — the definition of “on brand.” The Bulls have had this exact record at the season’s half-way mark in three of the last four seasons. No progress, no collapse. Just existing. And perpetually mid.Bulls reach midway point at 19-22 for 3rd time in 4 seasons
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) January 17, 2026 Tonight, the Bulls have a chance to pick up their first win against the Nets this season after dropping the first two matchups. Chicago won’t be at full strength again, but there is a small sliver of hope on the horizon. Josh Giddey, the engine of this team, has been out since December 29th with a hamstring strain. He was upgraded from OUT to Doubtful, however. That likely means he still won’t suit up tonight, but it’s a clear sign his return is getting closer. Maybe even in time for his first All-Star Game? We can hope.Josh Giddey (hamstring) listed doubtful for Sunday.
— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) January 17, 2026 We might get a big Ayo Dosunmu game tonight. He just celebrated his 26th birthday yesterday, hopefully he had fun, but didn’t party too hard. I wonder if he’ll make any more bold predictions about the Bears today… Happy belated birthday, Ayo! twitter.com/chicagobulls/status/2012525321317134654?s=20 The Bulls are once again fully committing to sports-washing their mediocrity, with everything ramping up toward Derrick Rose’s jersey retirement. We even saw the whole squad back together again—Joakim Noah, Derrick, Kirk Hinrich, and Taj Gibson. And, honestly, it’s been great seeing them flood my timeline again. twitter.com/chicagobulls/status/2012179179802947949?s=20 It was especially fun seeing Noah pop up in the U.K., blurring the lines between soccer and basketball at a Chelsea FC match. With the NBA playing in London tonight, it actually makes perfect sense to see him taking in a Blues game. twitter.com/ChelseaFC/status/2012635538868646167?s=20 The other Chicago basketball teams are in the news cycle today as well. The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game will be hosted in Chicago. Bulls “legend” and Chicago native Dwyane Wade was announced as a co-chair of the event twitter.com/chicagosky/status/2012321465748639753?s=20 I also read this story about former Chicago Bull Randy Brown, a three-time champion with the Bulls who went bankrupt after his playing career by trusting the wrong people with his money. At his lowest point, the Bulls stepped in and gave him a second chance in the front office. It’s a really good read, and the story reminds you the Bulls aren’t all that bad sometimes.MORE BULLS FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
