ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local print shops are gearing up for a potential surge in business as the Buffalo Bills advance in the playoffs. News10NBC took an inside look at a Rochester-based print shop preparing to produce thousands of AFC Championship shirts.
Nicole Bauer, the owner of the apparel print shop, shared her experience of receiving a call from the Bills team.
“So, I was in my office and one of our teammates came in and said, there’s a phone call that is above my pay grade, and I kind of laughed and she said, it’s for the bills, they want us to do printing for them,” Bauer said. “And quite honestly, I like laughed. I’m like, it’s got to be a scam.”
Bauer soon realized the opportunity was not a scam.
“And, you know, we talked for a bit, and they started sending me details, and then I knew, like, wow, this is actually real,” she said.
If the Bills win this weekend, Bauer’s team will begin preparing by receiving shipments of blank apparel and the team’s designs. They will start printing immediately after a win, working through the night to produce 3,000 to 4,000 items.
In the event of a loss, Bauer explained there would be no financial impact on her business, as they would not proceed with printing.
Bauer expressed pride in her business participating in the Bills Mafia.
“One of the coolest parts to me is that this is a very male-dominated industry. The screen-printing world. And so I love that I was able to come in and figure out how to build a successful business,” she said.
This is the third year Bauer’s shop has been contracted by the Bills. Bauer and her team are hopeful for a win to showcase their capabilities.
