Members of Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Alabama delivered an amended list of demands to University President Peter Mohler on Wednesday at “Mornings with Mohler,” a University Programs event.
Omorose Emwanta, treasurer of SJP UA, said that the event was the “perfect opportunity” to “re-list” the organization’s demands to Mohler.
“Although we appreciate that he’s receptive to our long line of members discussing this with him, we’re a bit wary that he will not follow up,” Emwanta said, calling Mohler’s receptiveness “empty promises” until any changes are made.
SPJ UA and other student organizations have previously held multiple rallies, protests and vigils in support of Palestinians during the on-going Israel-Hamas War, including calls for the University to divest from companies that have given funds to Israel.
