Sydney Sierota is 8 months pregnant and turning Echosmith show into a baby shower ...Middle East

News by : (Los Angeles Daily News) -

At eight months pregnant, Sydney Sierota is still stepping on stage, but not out of obligation — out of love.

“I just hit eight months pregnant,” Sierota shares on a phone call. With a laugh, she admits it’s surreal to be planning a show so close to her due date, but also fitting. “Music, after all, has been the constant through of every chapter of my life.”

With just weeks to go before welcoming her first child, the Echosmith frontwoman is preparing for a deeply personal hometown show at The Mint in Los Angeles on Monday, Jan. 19. The night will double as a baby shower celebration, a rare merging of music, family, and community that feels less like a concert gimmick and more like a milestone shared in real time.

“I’ve always been a big fan of bringing our fans into our lives as much as we can,” she explains. “We all grew up together. So it made sense to make a moment out of this.”

That sense of shared history runs deep for Echosmith, the sibling trio formed by Sydney and her brothers Noah and Graham Sierota. The band formed when Sydney was still in elementary school, evolving from childhood rehearsals into international success, creative independence, and now, a chapter marked by adulthood, reflection, and family.

“I was nine when we started the band,” she reflects. “Now I’m 28, pregnant with my first child, and playing a show with my family right before it happens. It feels really special.”

For Noah Sierota, the night carries meaning beyond the music. Already a father himself, he sees the show as a moment of convergence where band life, family life, and personal milestones intersect.

“Mostly, I’m just her brother,” Noah says. “And it’s awesome to see my sister go through all this. It’s a really sweet new chapter for Sydney and her family and our greater family, and even the band.”

That closeness is part of what has always defined Echosmith, a band that has never fully separated life from art. Noah describes it as both the oddity and the beauty of doing a band with your family, everything connected, personal moments unfolding alongside creative ones.

Motherhood has already begun reshaping the way Sydney relates to her music. In a moment that now feels symbolic, the day she found out she was pregnant was also the release day of her debut solo EP, “Phases.”

“It felt like I was having this music baby,” she says. “And then, oh my gosh! I’m about to have a real baby.”

Since then, her creative perspective has shifted in unexpected ways. Pregnancy hasn’t dulled her drive. If anything, it’s sharpened it, grounding her decisions and deepening her emotional connection to the songs she’s writing.

“I’m just as passionate about music — if not more — but now every decision I make is based on another human too,” she shares. “Life really can get sweeter, even if it’s hard at times. I know this will be no exception.”

That emotional clarity is audible in her recent solo work, including “When a Good Thing Ends,” a song she finished while pregnant. Rather than slowing her down, this season has quietly expanded her creativity.

“Since I’ve been pregnant, I think I’ve written some of my favorite songs,” Sierota says. “It actually boosted my creativity.”

At the same time, she’s navigating a rare dual path, continuing to build Echosmith’s next chapter while carving out space for her solo Americana-leaning work. Unlike many artists who separate those worlds, Sierota refuses to see them as competing forces.

“I don’t think I have to choose,” she says. “I love that I can write in Nashville one week and then go straight to an Echosmith show with my family.”

Looking ahead, she imagines a future where motherhood and music coexist organically. Touring with her child nearby, soundchecks with a baby on her chest, creativity unfolding alongside family life rather than despite it.

That warmth and openness will shape The Mint show. The evening will feature a full Echosmith set, solo performances from Sydney, and a live gender reveal shared with the crowd. Fans are encouraged to dress in blue or pink to cast their guesses, while Sierota plans to wear purple — a playful nod to keeping the secret.

“It’s heavy on the concert,” she says. “But there will be these little baby-shower moments throughout.” Beyond the spectacle, the night is meant to feel communal, a shared celebration rather than a performance put on at arm’s length.

As Sierota prepares to step into motherhood, what she’s most focused on protecting isn’t perfection, but presence. “I want to protect balance,” she says. “I want to be fully present wherever I am, whether I’m on stage or feeding my baby.”

It’s a practice she’s already working on, knowing it will always be a work in progress. “It’s very easy to live life distracted,” she admits. “I’ve been guilty of that.”

On Jan. 19, though, there will be no distraction. Just music, family, and a room full of people celebrating a new beginning together.

For Sydney Sierota, there’s no more fitting way to mark this moment than by doing what she’s always done: sharing her life through song, surrounded by the people who helped shape it.
