In a Vanity Fair cover story interview published Tuesday (Jan. 13), the singer-actress addressed whether she’s still friends with Ye a decade after starring in his “Fade” music video. “I almost didn’t write a speech because I didn’t think I’d win,” she said during her tearful acceptance speech. “To my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight: Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
