Auburn has landed a transfer commitment from former Baylor running back Bryson Washington. Washington shared the news with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Saturday.

The Tigers are getting a bruiser. Washington, a 6-foot, 216-pound tailback, scored 18 rushing touchdowns over his final 2 seasons with the Bears. He’s a rising junior with 2 years of eligibility remaining at Auburn.

Washington was a 3-star two-way prospect out of the 2023 recruiting class. He went from a starring role for a powerhouse high school program in Franklin, Texas, to Baylor and had to wait his turn.

He took a redshirt year in 2023, appearing in just 3 games and carrying the football only 10 times.

In 2024, as a redshirt freshman, Washington took over as the lead back and produced a 1,000-yard campaign. He ran 175 times for 1,028 yards (5.9 per carry) and 12 touchdowns. Washington also added 22 receptions for 217 yards and a score.

Washington produced 6 games with at least 100 rushing yards, the most by a freshman in Baylor history. His rushing output broke another school record for a freshman, and his 12 touchdowns ranked as the third-most by a Baylor freshman.

He didn’t have the same success in 2025, though his workload was slightly reduced. In 12 games, Washington ran 154 times for 788 yards (5.1 per carry) and 6 touchdowns. He caught 18 passes for 93 yards and a score.

Washington had 54 yards on 14 carries against Auburn in the season-opener, but responded to that loss with 100-yard days in each of his next 3 games. He struggled in a loss to TCU on Oct. 18 and saw his production trail off from then on. He ended the year with just 2 carries for 16 yards in a 7-point loss to Houston on Nov. 29.

With Auburn, Washington will partner with Jeremiah Cobb in the backfield to give the Tigers a solid 1-2 punch. Cobb, who ran for 969 yards and 5 scores in 2025, announced his return on Friday. Auburn has also signed former South Florida running back Nykahi Davenport.
