Guitarist and producer Tyler Bates has officially announced that he will no longer tour with the shock rock icon, ending a long and important chapter in Manson’s modern era.

Bates shared the decision in a public statement, explaining that he is stepping away to focus on his other creative work in film, television and his own artist projects. While he will no longer appear on stage with Manson, Bates made it clear that the split is friendly and based on career direction, not conflict.

Tyler Bates first began working with Marilyn Manson in 2014, becoming one of the most important collaborators in the singer’s later career. Over the years, Bates helped shape the sound of four albums, including The Pale Emperor (2015), Heaven Upside Down (2017), and One Assassination Under God — Chapter 1 (2024). He also worked on the upcoming follow-up, Chapter 2, which is expected to arrive in 2026.

In his message, Bates took time to thank the other musicians who shared the stage with him. He praised drummer Gil Sharone, guitarist Reba Meyers, and bassist Matt “Piggy D” Montgomery, calling them “stellar humans on and off stage.”

Those bandmates returned the respect publicly. Meyers wrote, “Love you Tyler will miss you up there,” while Sharone added a simple but heartfelt, “Much love Tyler!”

What Tyler Bates’ Exit Means for Marilyn Manson’s Future

“I’m stepping away, but I will be actively supporting the upcoming release of ‘Chapter Two,’ my fourth album with Manson, which I believe is our finest work together,” Bates said.

The news also arrives during a turning point for Manson personally and professionally. The singer recently celebrated his 57th birthday surrounded by fellow musicians, actors and longtime collaborators.

As Bates focuses on his successful career in film and television scoring, and Manson prepares to step back onto the global stage, both artists appear to be moving forward with respect and optimism.
