Alabama starting right tackle Wilkin Formby entered the transfer portal Sunday, and it only took a couple days for the Tuscaloosa native to find a new home within the same conference.
Per reports from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Formby committed to join Mike Elko and Texas A&M on Wednesday, as the veteran opted to stay in the SEC in 2026.

— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) January 7, 2026Formby started 14 games this past season and also started twice in 2024. He’s played over 1,000 snaps across 27 games in his career and figures to immediately become a key contributor for the Aggies.
The move is made especially notable by the fact that Formby is a homegrown product for the Crimson Tide, as the 6-foot-7 tackle attended local Northridge High School. The redshirt sophomore bided his time in 2023 before becoming a rotational contributor in 2024. Then, Formby carved out a starting role for himself in 2025 and was one of the more reliable linemen Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama offense put on the field.
And of course, Formby and Texas A&M will be taking a trip to Tuscaloosa during the 2026 campaign, setting up yet another intriguing homecoming within the SEC next season. That matchup will occur on Oct. 24 and is right before both teams have their bye weeks.
