The proceeds of the event go directly toward the Pat Tillman Foundation, which fuels scholarships and leadership development for nearly 1,000 Tillman Scholars, service members, veterans and military spouses who carry forward his values of scholarship, humble leadership and service.
Pat Tillman was a first-team All-American in 1997 for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals and played for four seasons before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
Tillman died in battle and was awarded a Silver Star for his service. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
Tillman’s No. 42 is retired at Arizona State, and the Cardinals retired his No. 20 jersey. The Arizona hero is also in the Cardinals Ring of Honor, was the sole inductee to the East-West Shrine Bowl Hall of Fame in 2005 and was selected to the East-West Shrine Bowl All-Century Team.
