A suburban Mundelein man was identified as the person who was struck and killed by a train last week in Libertyville, authorities said.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, emergency crews responded to an unresponsive person in the area of Ellis Avenue and Winchester Road after personnel onboard a Metra train saw a body along the train tracks, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.
The coroner’s office identified the individual as Allen Chiquini, 30, of Mundelein. An autopsy determined Ciquini died from blunt for head injuries consistent with being struck by a train.
Metra previously said the train whose crew reported the body wasn’t involved in the collision.
As of Monday evening, an investigation remained underway by Metra police.
