ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Threat Tracker is highlighting Tuesday and Wednesday with a Yellow Alert. For Tuesday we are looking at some light lake effect snow showers at times into the evening with accumulations generally an inch or less. A few inches possible in parts of Wayne County. The wind will not be as strong as Monday but a few gusts 30-40mph will cause some blowing and drifting snow, especially in the open countryside. No widespread issues expected but be prepared for changeable road conditions as you head out and about, mainly near Rt. 104 east of Rochester.
Yellow Alert Wednesday for a clipper system moving into the region with a more widespread snow during the afternoon and at night. Plan on a couple inches of snow across the region with locally more near the lakes. It will be windy and cold once again. If you plan on being out and about for New Year’s Eve factor in the snow and cold. Temps at midnight will be in the teens with a feel like wind chill closer to zero.
Cold weather with local lake flakes will continue into Thursday as we start the new year with below average temperatures and areas of light snow and lake flakes at times into this weekend and also for next week as well.
