A popular suburban luxury consignment store was burglarized Sunday, with surveillance video showing a group of masked people storming into the boutique and owners saying “nearly all” of its inventory was stolen.
The store, Restyle Designers Barrington, located at 121 South Cook St., posted security footage of the burglary Sunday on Instagram, with a caption saying “our hearts are broken.”
“Early this morning, our store was burglarized and nearly all of our inventory was stolen, years of hard work and trust gone in seconds,” the post, which drew more than 1,300 comments read in part. “We are devastated, but we are not giving up.”
The video shows at least six people wearing black ski masks bursting through the front door and then quickly taking merchandise, carrying it out with their hands or throwing the pieces in garbage bags. Over the course of a minute, the crew appears to clear the shelves of goods, including accessories, bags and purses.
By the end of the video, the boutique looks bare, with empty racks and debris strewn across the ground.
According to the store’s website, Restyle Designers Barrington specializes in buying, consignment and selling authentic luxury goods.
NBC Chicago reached out to Restyle Designers Barrington and the Barrington Police Department but did not immediately hear back.
