Former Alabama running back Mark Ingram believes the Tide’s upcoming home-and-home series with Ohio State is in danger of being canceled.

Ingram said as much during the latest episode of the Triple Option Podcast. He said the series could be canceled as programs are concerned about being heavily penalized for losing high-profile games when it comes time for the College Football Playoff committee to make their final selections.

“Alabama has a home-and-away against Ohio State. Why would you even do that?” Ingram said. “I don’t know if it’s going to get done or if it’s not, but it’s definitely on the radar to get that off the schedule. Because what benefit does it do you if you play that game close and they’re going to hold it against you when it’s time to be voted into the Playoff.”

In addition to Playoff considerations, Alabama also has to weight its overall strength-of-schedule with the SEC moving to 9 conference games in 2026.

As of now, Alabama is still scheduled to travel to Columbus in 2027. The Buckeyes are set to make a return trip to Tuscaloosa in 2028.

Other power-conference teams on Alabama’s future schedules include Florida State, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Arizona and Virginia Tech. The SEC is still requiring its members to play at least one P4 team in nonconference play, so many of those series are likely to remain on the schedule.
