It is the heart of our community, a place where laughter fills the air and lifelong friendships form at the playground. Yet the brick sidewalk at Princess Del Cerro Park, installed nearly 25 years ago to welcome our families, has deteriorated, posing a safety risk and detracting from the park’s natural beauty. To restore this gathering space, the Friends of Del Cerro — the local 501(c)(3) volunteer nonprofit, along with the Voice of Del Cerro community group — has launched an ambitious $80,000 fundraising initiative in a joint project with San Diego’s Parks and Recreation Department. The city of San Diego is also allocating considerable funds to repair the areas adjacent to the commemorative brick area. We are calling on our spirited residents to help us brick in the walkway adjacent to the playground for a safer and distinguished area.We invite you to affirm your legacy in the Princess Del Cerro Park by donating $250 for a personalized, commemorative 8″ x 8″ brick, which includes six lines of text with 18 characters or spaces per line, or $150 for a 4” X 8” brick, which includes three lines of text with 18 characters per line. This is more than just a park repair; it is a unique opportunity to etch your family’s name, a local business, or a memorial tribute to the very history of our community. Your contribution is a direct investment in our infrastructure, ensuring a stunning, safe, and durable entrance for the children who play here. All commemorative bricks currently in place will remain or be replaced by the Friends of Del Cerro.
Imagine the pride of seeing your personal message every time you visit the park, knowing you helped preserve this treasure for the next generation. To reserve your brick and support this essential renovation, visit friendsofdelcerro.org, then click on “Projects”, then “Princess Del Cerro Park”. We need our entire community to step up to reach our goal. Together, let’s rebuild our park, brick by brick.
