Thousands of new files related to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday, reigniting scrutiny of the late financier’s ties to some of the world’s most powerful figures.
The latest tranche of materials – the eighth release since Friday and the largest to date – contains more than 11,000 files, including photos, videos, emails and internal investigative records. As well as exposing fresh details about Epstein’s circle, the release reveals how authorities on both sides of the Atlantic are investigating and responding to long-standing allegations.
While many of the files are heavily redacted – and officials have warned that some of the material is unverified – several revelations stand out, particularly regarding US President Donald Trump and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Here are six of the most explosive disclosures.
Andrew engaged in sexual conduct with a victim of Epstein
Among the most serious claims in the files are records in which Andrew is explicitly accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a victim of Epstein.
The allegation appears in material gathered by US investigators as part of the broader Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell inquiries and reiterates claims made previously by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers.
While the accusation itself is not new, the significance of the latest release lies in how directly it is recorded within official investigative files – indicating that the allegations against Andrew were central, not peripheral, to the Epstein investigation. The documents show US authorities treated the allegation as a serious line of inquiry, despite the fact Andrew was never charged and has consistently denied wrongdoing.
Andrew reached a civil settlement with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability. The Palace has said in the past that the settlement was not an admission of guilt. Andrew’s team has been contacted for comment.

An email dated from 2001 sent by an individual identified as “A” from “Balmoral” asks Maxwell: “Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”
It is thought that this could have been sent by Andrew: as well as the initial A and the reference to Balmoral – a royal residence in Scotland – the email thread mentions a valet and having recently left the “RN”. Andrew left the Royal Navy in July 2001.
The message from August 2001 reads: “I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family. Activities take place all day and I am totally exhausted at the end of each day. The Girls are completely shattered and I will have to give them an early night today as it is getting tiring splitting them up all the time! How’s LA? Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”

Subsequent correspondence references a trip to Peru organised with Maxwell’s help and mentions meeting girls described as “intelligent, pretty” and from “good families.”

Trump flew on Epstein’s private jet ‘many more times’ than thought
The documents also contain more references to Trump than previous releases, including in flight records, internal DOJ notes and subpoena references.
According to prosecutor notes in the files, Trump flew on Epstein’s private jet at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, including at least four flights when Maxwell was also aboard. Some of these flights reportedly included a 20-year-old woman. The flight records are not proof of wrongdoing or that the woman was a victim of abuse.
A 2020 email from an assistant US attorney from the Southern District of New York titled “RE: Epstein flight records” said the US President “traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware)”.

Another striking document is a letter written by Epstein in which he refers to “our president” as someone who loves “young nubile girls”. Crucially, an envelope that was also published with the letter has a postmark of 13 August 2019 – when Trump was serving his first term as US President.
The note says: “As you know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home. Good luck! We shared one thing… our love and caring for young ladies and the hope they’d reach their full potential. Our President also shares our love of young, nubile girls.”
The letter does not name Trump explicitly, nor does it provide evidence of direct contact between the two at the time it was written. But the timing has made the document explosive.
Trump has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to the Epstein allegations.
DOJ says files contain “untrue and sensationalist” claims about Trump
Alongside the disclosures themselves, the Justice Department has taken the unusual step of explicitly warning that some claims involving Trump in the files are “untrue and sensationalist.” This language appears in internal DOJ communications released as part of the tranche and reflects concern that raw investigative material could be misinterpreted.
This caveat has become politically charged, with critics accusing the department of attempting to downplay damaging material, while the DOJ has said it is simply explaining the nature of untested investigative records.
The DOJ has stressed that inclusion in the Epstein files does not amount to evidence of wrongdoing, and that investigators logged tips and allegations regardless of their credibility.
Met police contacted FBI last month about Andrew allegations
The files also reveal that the Metropolitan Police contacted the FBI in November to discuss allegations relating to Andrew. The contact is recorded in internal US justice department correspondence and marks one of the clearest recent indications of active communication between British and American authorities on the case.
The files do not suggest that Prince Andrew is under active criminal investigation in the UK. The Met has previously said it has kept the Epstein case under review and would consider any new evidence. The fact that the Met approached the FBI last month could suggest that recent material or renewed scrutiny have prompted fresh exchanges.
