PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Livier Andrade, Panorama, Sr.
In Panorama City’s inaugural season, the Pythons finished 1-9 overall, 1-6 in Valley Mission league play. This was Livier Andrade’s first season with the program, but with Andrade’s help, the culture shifted to a winning one.
Last season, the Pythons finished with a 16-11 overall record, 6-2 in league play, and earned a Division 1 CIF L.A. City Section playoff bid but ultimately lost in the semifinals to the eventual champions, Narbonne. Andrade’s efforts earned her Daily News All-Area defensive player of the year, totaling 99 tackles, three sacks, and 17 interceptions, and earned All-City Division 1 honors.
Andrade turned it up another notch in her final season. Andrade helped lead the Pythons to a 27-2 overall record and a perfect 10-0 record in league play. The Pythons also earned their first CIF L.A. City Section Open Division playoff bid.

(Photo by Mark Savage, Contributing Photographer) Expand“Our chemistry all season was amazing,” Andrade said. “Everyone bought in and worked hard, and seeing how hard we worked all summer, I expected the level of success. However, the success I was able to achieve couldn’t have been done without my teammates, coaches, and family who believed in me all season long.”
Andrade’s statistical season is one of the best recorded on MaxPreps.com. The two-way star finished with 2849 receiving yards, which is second in the state, 46 receiving touchdowns, and 51 total touchdowns, sixth best in the state.
On defense, Andrade recorded 184 tackles, almost doubling her total from the previous season and good enough for eighth in the state, and she recorded 45 sacks. The gigantic numbers also earned her All-City Open Division honors.
“Liv is one of those special talents you meet once in a while,” Pythons coach Yancy Alvarenga said. “She has a strong work ethic, is always willing to hear feedback, and always asks how she can get better. She felt more confident coming into her senior year, and it showed in her ability to lead by example. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her, but I know she’s going to shine regardless, and I look forward to watching her journey.”
With the summer Olympics coming to Los Angeles in 2028, Andrade has not ruled out the possibility of competing on the world’s biggest stage.
“I want to thank my coaches, Coach Alvarenga has pushed me since day one,” Andrade said. “Yadhira (Hermenegildo) is goated. She’s such an incredible player. Quarterback is the most important position on the team, so it all depends on her. All my teammates pushed me, especially during tough times of the season. … I want to thank my family, especially my grandma. She’s my guardian, so my biggest thanks are for her, and all I ever wanted to do was make her proud.”
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Claire Hesinger, Agoura, Jr.
For the second year in a row, Claire Hesinger earns the Daily News All-Area offensive player of the year honors. Hesinger finished with 6,054 passing yards and 79 passing touchdowns, which included multiple games of eight passing touchdowns and no interceptions.
Hesinger also added 505 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and threw at a 70.5 completion percentage. Hesinger also played defense and hauled in six interceptions as Agoura finished with a 15-5 overall record, an 8-2 Marmonte League record, and earned a spot in the Division 2 Southern Section playoffs.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Izzy Greene, Agoura, Jr.
The future remains bright for Agoura, as both Izzy Greene and Hesinger have one more year of eligibility. Greene also played on both sides of the ball, recording 67.5 receiving yards per game to go along with her 34.9 rushing yards per game and 24 total touchdowns (22 receiving touchdowns).
However, Greene’s superstar abilities shone on defense. Greene finished the year with 92 sacks after recording 20 last season, best in the state, and averaged 4.6 sacks per game.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Eames, Westlake
It’s never easy to take over a successful program, but fortunately for Mike Eames, his familiarity with Westlake helped propel it to newfound success.
The Wolverines finished with a 17-7 overall record and 7-3 in Marmonte League play and reached the CIF-SS Division 2 finals before losing to Corona del Mar.
