ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting that killed two men at a home on Lyell Avenue back in May of 2024.
Lakwan Hannah, 29, faces 34 years to life in prison once he’s sentenced. The shooting killed 31-year-old Marquis Chambers, found dead on the porch, and 29-year-old Jared Perry, found dead inside the home.
Rochester Police say Hannah drove to the house, exited his car, and opened fire at multiple people who were sitting on the front porch around 1:30 in the morning. He then went into the house, where he chased down and killed Perry. Hannah also shot a third person, who survived.
Seven months after the murder, in January, Hannah was arrested in Texas. RPD and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office worked with authorities to bring him to Rochester to face murder charges. Now, Hannah will be sentenced on Jan. 28 in State Supreme Court.
Hannah was on probation at the time of the murders.
