Parade: It’s so good to see you all! Let's take it back: Tell me about the formation of Pentatonix.
Matt, you joined the group in 2017. What has the journey been like for you over the last eight years?
Pentatonix THIS or THAT: Christmas Edition (5:51)
Speaking of kids, how do you balance parenting with a heavy touring schedule?
Scott, you shared news about a sonogram at a recent concert.
Matt: I love that.
How Scott Hoying Accidentally Got Pentatonix Disqualified From a Radio Contest (5:53)One part of the show that really stands out is when you play the drums and the cello. When was the first time you did that?
Matt: Kevin’s humble. He’s an amazing cellist and there were so many videos of him beatboxing and playing the cello. But cello-boxing is what you call it, and so we’ve talked about doing things together and enhancing that experience and we’ve grown from one little drum to a percussion set. And then one day, Kevin's like, “You should just play a drumset"—and so we actually built it! My brother’s a drummer and I started playing casually because of him. But when Kevin said you should play, I was like, "Okay I’m gonna go for it!"
Kirstin: They’ve both put a lot of work into building that moment. It’s really good.

Scott: And the music we did in choir and like, the things we consumed and participated in in high school were like, so inspiring to us, which led us to create Pentatonix and led us to make this music. And now to know that it’s kind of paying it forward and inspiring kids who are making art as well is a really cool thing.
We love that you've partnered with Kay Jewelers this holiday season.
