The University of Northern Colorado baseball team starts its 2026 season in mid-February with an extended road trip before the Bears debut at home a month later for their first Summit League series.
The 52-game regular season begins with a four-game, nonconference series Feb. 13-15 at Wichita State. The Bears are on the road for 17 games into mid-March. UNC opens play at home March 13-15 against Summit League opponent St. Thomas at Jackson Field in Greeley.
UNC will spend part of spring break the following week against third-ranked Arkansas of the SEC on March 17-18 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The bulk of the Bears’ remaining schedule features Summit League games, starting March 20-22 at home against the University of Nebraska Omaha and running into mid-May. In this stretch, UNC will play home-and-home nonconference games against the Air Force Academy. The Bears go to Colorado Springs on April 8 and host the Falcons on April 28.
The four-team Summit League Tournament is May 20-23 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Bears were 18-33 overall in 2025 and 9-21 in the Summit League. UNC did not qualify for the league tournament.
UNC’s 36-man roster for the spring includes nine players from the Greeley area: sophomore Lucas Stone, a left-handed pitcher from Eaton and Eaton High School; graduate transfer Logan Moser from Eaton and Eaton High who played at the University of Mary; senior outfielder Jaden Stone, Lucas’s brother, also from Eaton; redshirt freshman Mitch Haythorn from Eaton, who started his collegiate career at Oklahoma; redshirt sophomore Tate Smith, a right-handed pitcher from Eaton, previously on teams at Sam Houston State and Oklahoma State; freshman infielder Ethan Fillinger from Greeley and Windsor High; junior right-handed pitcher Mason Bright from Severance and Severance High; and freshman outfielder Mason Griffin from Windsor and Fossil Ridge High.
Moser, Jaden Stone, Lucas Stone, Haythorn and Smith played on state championship teams at Eaton.
Bears head coach Mike Anderson is from Eaton and played at UNC from 1983-86.
