Lattakia, Dec. 18 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, launched a tree-planting campaign on Thursday in the Kabina area of northern Lattakia Province. The campaign aims to restore vegetation cover and highlight the army’s role in local development.
Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra, Lattakia Governor Muhammad Othman, and several senior military officers participated in the campaign under the slogan “A Tree for Every Soldier.”
The initiative seeks to rehabilitate vegetation damaged during past bombardments by the deposed regime and demonstrates the partnership between the army and the local community in reviving affected areas.
“Kabina was chosen as the first stop. The area had endured years of resistance against the former regime and suffered heavy bombardment, losing a significant portion of its vegetation. Organized efforts are now necessary for its rehabilitation,” Minister Abu Qasra said.
He added that entering the village after its liberation was a source of pride, emphasizing that the residents’ patience had helped repel aggression and contributed to the liberation of Syrian territory.
