The Oceanside Fire Department Monday cut the ribbon on Fire Station 9 in the North River Farms neighborhood at the base of the South Morro Hills community.
The station, located at 5590 Giovanni Way, was constructed and funded by Lennar Homes, the developer of the North River Farms project. It is intended to increase coverage and reduce response times for the northwest part of the city.
“This station enhances our ability to deliver timely emergency services to residents in North Oceanside and surrounding areas,” said David Parsons, chief of the Oceanside Fire Department. “Fire Station 9 strengthens our systemwide coverage and reflects our commitment to keeping everyone safe, always.”
Fire Station 9 houses a Type 6 fire engine, a smaller, truck-like engine used most frequently for faster mobility and wildfires. It is staffed by one fire captain and one firefighter/paramedic.

The station became operational on Saturday, although Monday’s event marked the official opening.
