Bears 24-Hour Rule: The Most Complete Win Of The Season ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Chicago Bears are 10-4, in first place in the NFC North, and coming off their most complete win in quite some time. That was so fun, and it feels like Ben Johnson’s team is starting to peak at the right time.

Let’s recap the win, move on, and get ready for one of the biggest games Soldier Field has seen since the 2018 season.

Bears 24-Hour Rule

There are a whole lot of places to start this post, but I want to start with the Bears’ running game. Say what you want about Cleveland’s offense and how bad it is, but its defense is a legitimate top-five unit in the NFL. And the Bears straight up bullied them. Running back D’Andre Swift was outstanding, going for 98 yards on 18 touchdowns and a pair of scores. Rookie Kyle Monangai didn’t have his best day, but he was fearless going up against that unit and had a few nice runs. We say it every week, but this ground game is so far ahead of where it was at the beginning of this season.

While the running backs have been a revelation, no running game can work without the offensive line being in control. And that’s exactly what they’ve been for most of this season, following the rough start. Right tackle Darnell Wright and left guard Joe Thuney have been playing at an All-Pro level. Drew Dalman has been worth every penny of his free-agent deal. Right guard Jonah Jackson, after a brutal first game, has made Ben Johnson look very smart in wanting to buy low on him this past offseason, and rookie Ozzy Trapilo looks like the left tackle of the future. While there are still a few kinks to work out in pass protection, this group is gelling on a level we haven’t seen in quite some time in a Bears offensive line, and they’re playing with the aggression and violence it takes to really run the ball this time of year.

— Bleacher Nation Bears (@bn-bears.bsky.social) December 15, 2025 at 2:26 PM We can stick with the offense since we started there. Quarterback Caleb Williams was so impressive on Sunday. Below freezing temps and brutal wind chill? Doesn’t matter. Rookie left tackle going up against Myles Garrett on his blind side? Didn’t phase him. He is doing such a great job of distributing the ball across the entire offense and getting everyone involved. When you can do that, things get so much more difficult for defenders.

CALEB WILLIAMS CONTINUES TO REWRITE THE BEARS RECORD BOOKS

And, while I’m not sure I want to see him attempt it many more times, the throw to DJ Moore in the back of the endzone was so incredibly special. Was it risky? Absolutely. But you can count on one hand how many NFL quarterbacks can pull off that throw. Caleb Williams is playing with confidence and no fear. He doesn’t let mistakes linger; he’s always onto the next play. This was about a good as we’ve seen him command an offense, and probably his most complete game as a Bear. He’s been an absolute treat to watch as he’s taken the next step in his development this season, and he’s still got a good amount of room to grow! Speaking of DJ Moore, credit to him for an outstanding performance. He’s still a little bit too much of a roller coaster at times, but today is a perfect reminder of how impactful he can be when he’s at his best. After he got his game ball, you could just tell how happy he is to be a part of a winning team and how much fun he’s having. Still don’t know what the future for him here looks like, but he’s an absolute asset when he’s playing like that.

Dennis Allen’s defense wasn’t going up against the best offense, but I thought he called a really good game defensively yesterday, and his game plan had Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders running for his life. He saw the opportunity to throw the house at a rookie and he took advantage of it. The D-Line got after Sanders, the front seven absolutely stuffed running back Quinshon Judkins and the ground game, and the secondary took the ball away. Rookie Colston Loveland has gotten better every week it seems, and he’s become Caleb Williams’ safety blanket. He’s such an important part of the offense. Cole Kmet has also gotten better as the season has gone on, and he’s been such a good blocker in the run game as well. It’s been fun watching Ben Johnson utilize them both and play to their strengths. I am thankful for Ben Johnson. Not much else needs to be said there. He’s awesome, he’s an elite playcaller, and he’s changed the culture in less than a season. We’re so lucky he’s the head coach of this team and that he chose Chicago. And that’s that. It was fun, the Bears were dominant. Cool. Now we’re onto Green Bay. Ten wins is cool, beating Cleveland 31-3 is fun. But now we’re onto bigger things. Enact the 24-hour rule. D’Marco Jackson said after the game when receiving his game ball that he’s still got a bad taste in his mouth from last week. Good. No moral victories, no just being happy to be here and having 10 wins. This team is capable of more of that. Beat the Packers.
