The Heisman Trophy ceremony took place this past Saturday in New York, and star Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia was in attendance as the only SEC finalist after a phenomenal 2025 campaign.
Pavia joined fellow quarterbacks Fernando Mendoza from Indiana and Julian Sayin from Ohio State, along with Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love, at the big event.
The charismatic Commodores gunslinger finished second in the final vote, behind Mendoza, and took to social media after the ceremony to deliver a message to the Heisman voters.
Pavia posted a story on his personal Instagram with several of his Vanderbilt teammates and captioned it “F- all the voters but… family for life,” a post that made it very clear he wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about coming in second after putting together a dominant season.

— Dylan Tovitz (@dtovitz) December 14, 2025The electric dual-threat signal caller passed for 3,192 yards and 27 touchdowns, and he racked up another 826 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground while leading Vanderbilt to their first 10-win season in program history.
Pavia may have walked away from the Heisman ceremony disappointed, but he still has an opportunity to add to what’s been a special season in Nashville by beating the Iowa Hawkeyes in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
