Mike Marder of Israel has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Northwestern beginning in fall 2026.

Marder swims for Hapoel Dolphin Netanya and competed at the end of July at Nationals. There he swam to a lifetime best 2:02.16 in the 200 backstroke.
That was faster than his 2:02.93 that he swam back in May during Israel’s World Championship Trials as he touched 3rd. He also swam a best time 56.11 in the 100 backstroke, earning him an 8th place finish. He has represented Israel at the international level on numerous occasions, including the 2023 European Junior Championships as well as at the 2023 World Junior Championships.
Marder’s Best LCM Times Are:
100 back: 56.11 200 back: 2:02.16The Northwestern men finished 7th out of nine teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships with 711 points, finishing just behind 6th place Wisconsin who had 735 points. Stuart Seymour led the way for Northwestern with 66 individual points including a 3rd place finish in the 100 back in a 45.07.
It took a 48.38 in the 100 back and a 1:45.81 in the 200 backstroke to earn a second swim at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. David Gerchik of Northwestern, who also represents Israel at the international level, was 5th in the 200 backstroke with a 1:41.31. Both Seymour and Gerchik are current juniors, so the three will overlap for one season.
Marder will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Ben Whiteford, Brandon Ha, Caleb Romero Serrano, Jack Ciappetta, and Zack Kusch.
