Annika Curran from Verona, Wisconsin has announced her commitment to stay in state and continue her academic and athletic careers at Wisconsin in 2026.

At the time of her commitment (October 2024) she wrote on social media:
“I’m extremely excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates for all of their support and encouragement throughout my swimming career. I’m incredibly grateful for all of you. A huge thanks to Coach Yuri, Coach Kristy, and the rest of the Wisconsin coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity, I can’t wait to be a Badger! ON WISCONSIN!!”
Curran represents Madison Aquatic Club and is currently a senior at Verona High School. Last month, she swam to a Wisconsin Division I State title in the 100 breast, posting a lifetime best 1:01.85 in her win. That marked a personal best by 0.33 seconds. She also finished 2nd in the 200 IM in another lifetime best of a 2:01.78. She notably finished just ahead of fellow Wisconsin commit Caroline Wanezek who was 3rd in a 2:01.99.
This past summer, she swam to numerous lifetime bests at the Aquajets Summer Spectacular. Those swims included a 1:11.89 100 breast and a 2:38.17 200 breast, both of which are Summer Juniors cuts.
Curran’s Best SCY Times Are:
100 breast: 1:01.85 200 breast: 2:15.97 200 IM: 2:01.78The Wisconsin women finished 4th out of 14 teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Phoebe Bacon, who has since graduated, led the team with 96 individual points. The team is currently in its first season under head coach Dr. Jack Brown.
Based on her best times, Curran is just off what it took to make the Big Ten ‘C’ final of the 100 breast as it took a 1:01.68 to earn a 2nd swim. It also took a 2:13.65 200 breast and a 1:59.66 200 IM. Wisconsin scored 35 points in the 100 breast and 63 in the 200 breast at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. So far this season, Brooke Corrigan currently leads the team in the 100 breast with a 59.73 while Hazal Ozkan leads in the 200 breast with a 2:08.63.
will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Lindsey Schlegel, Taryn Weatherhead, Ainsley Stephan, Lilla Wilbur, Ellie Kayser, Caroline Wanezek, and Vivian Moulson.
