Photo: Steven Branscombe-Imagn Images)Shortstop Roch Cholowsky has all the makings of a No. 1 overall pick, and the White Sox could easily scoop him up when next year’s draft arrives. He is the son of a former minor leaguer, and he was a top 50 player as a two-sport athlete from the same high school that produced Cody Bellinger. As a sophomore, he smashed 23 homers with a 1.190 OPS. Cholowsky finds the barrel often, doesn’t chase many pitches, and has raw power.
Shortstops Dominate Top 10
To no one’s surprise, there are several shortstops dominating the first round, including the top three picks. Justin Lebron is one of the top prospects in the class, and he can do it all. He has added some muscle in the offseason, and his significant bat speed is something scouts love. On defense, he has a quick first step that helps him cover plenty of ground. He will be in contention for the top pick depending on his growth this spring.
Grady Emerson is a rangy prep shortstop with all-around tools. He plays for Rusty Greer, who mentored Bobby Witt Jr. This young shortstop knows how to stack up quality at-bats and barrel balls to all fields. He’s got a pretty lefty stroke with good instincts that has him near the top of the draft.
Cardinals Add Virginia Outfielder

Virginia outfield AJ Gracia is a solid fit. He had a tremendous freshman campaign at Duke as he earned All-American honors. Gracia had a slow start as a sophomore before turning it on in the second half to finish with 15 homers and a 1.007 OPS. He has left Duke for Virginia and is considered one of the best bats in the college class. He makes excellent decisions from the left side with plus contact. With 57 walks as a sophomore, he led the Blue Devils and showed he can limit his swings and misses.
