Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft and isn’t expected to play in the Sun Bowl, according to reports on Wednesday.
Tyson is projected as a first-round pick with the potential to be the first wide receiver off the board, pacing receivers according to three of ESPN’s four analysts in position rankings posted on Nov. 25.
Despite missing 3.5 games this season, the redshirt junior ranks top five among Big 12 receivers in catches (61, fourth) and touchdown receptions (10, fifth). He is 12th in yards with 711.
Injuries, such as a hamstring strain he suffered on Oct. 18 against Texas Tech and another apparent lower-body injury in the Territorial Cup, prevented him from having the season he envisioned.
NFL teams evaluating Tyson will also remember the collarbone injury that caused him to miss the 2024 postseason, as well as the knee issues that kept him off the field for most of the 2023 season.
Prior to the collarbone injury, Tyson was leading all of college football in receiving yards for the back half of the regular season (729) and had built a close connection with quarterback Sam Leavitt.

The big key for him entering the 2025 season was to cut down on drops after he had seven in 2024 and had five as a freshman in 2022 (no catches on four targets in 2023 when he battled injuries). He did so successfully with just one drop this season.
Tyson has also bulked up to NFL size over his three years at ASU, growing 1 inch to 6-foot-2 and getting up to 200 pounds after arriving to the program at 185 pounds.
The receiver has had the luxury of developing under wide receivers coach Hines Ward, who has helped Tyson refine his discipline, work habits and overall approach. Having an NBA brother in Cleveland Cavaliers wing Jaylon Tyson helped with that as well.
