The Greeley Youth Hockey Association, and its Greeley Bears club teams, hit the road for some more winter season action this past weekend.
In addition to the Bears’ 8U Mites having games in Cheyenne against the Capitals, the 10U Gold Bears team traveled to Colorado Springs to face the Colorado Springs Tigers. The Bears won 13-0.
They had goals from Odin Salisbury, Jackson Harding, Liam Kostrewa, Max Grell and Gage Prim. They will host the DU Junior Pioneers this weekend at the Greeley Ice Haus.
The 10U Blue Bears team traveled to the NoCo Ice Center in Windsor this past weekend and defeated the Junior Eagles 6-2 in the Bears’ second match of the season. They were led by goals from Sutter Bennett, Brayden Murray, Jax Warner and Grayson Long.
On Sunday, both Greeley Bears 12U teams hosted games at the Ice Haus.
The 12U Blue Bears earned a 4-2 victory against NCYH 12U Black. Then, the 12U Gold team played to a 3-3 tie against NCYH 12U Yellow. Jordan Garcia, Brooks Law, Carson Mitchell, Logan Bashkov, Alexander Rohnke, Braydon Lawly and Huckleberry Barreras scored goals in the two games.
The Bears 18U team was also in action against the Hyland Hills White team at the Greeley Ice Haus. The Bears secured a win by scoring with eight seconds left in the game. Mathew Chambers and Elijah Francone produced goals.
While the rest of the Bears’ teams had the Thanksgiving weekend off, two teams played in tournaments.
The Greeley Bears 8U mites program traveled to Arvada to compete in the Thanksgiving Mites Jamboree. The Bears 12U Gold team went 1-3 in their tournament. Brooks Law had a hat trick, and Aiden McFarland had two goals, as the Bears picked up a win against the Arapahoe Warriors.
The Greeley Bears/GYHA is an affordable, nonprofit, recreational club for young athletes, 5 to 18 years old. It plays in the Colorado Recreational Hockey League and is an affiliate of the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association. It is also a member of USA Hockey.
