Green Bay Packers Injury Report: Five Ruled Out Ahead of Bears Matchup ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Bears and Packers will meet Sunday at Lambeau Field with first place in the NFC North — and potentially the NFC — on the line. And while Chicago enters the weekend relatively healthy (save for the Rome Odunze injury news this afternoon), Green Bay’s final injury report paints a very different picture. Matt LaFleur’s team has ruled out five players and listed five more as questionable, leaving several position groups thin heading into their biggest game of the season.

The Packers ruled out WR Savion Williams (foot), RB MarShawn Lloyd (calf), and defensive linemen Lukas Van Ness (foot), Devonte Wyatt (ankle), and Collin Oliver (hamstring). That’s a significant amount of trench depth missing for a team that has struggled to contain the run in recent weeks — a storyline that will matter against a Bears offense that bullied the Eagles on the ground last Sunday.

Five players are questionable: WRs Jayden Reed (shoulder/foot) and Matthew Golden (wrist), S Javon Bullard (ankle), CB Nate Hobbs (knee), and DL Brenton Cox Jr. (groin).

Reed and Cox are still on injured reserve and would need to be activated to the 53-man roster Saturday to suit up. Reed hasn’t played since Week 2 because of a broken collarbone, but LaFleur said Friday he remains “hopeful.” The Bears know better than to prepare for anything less than Reed’s best — he’s one of the league’s most dangerous YAC receivers when healthy.

Bullard’s status looms especially large. He’s been Green Bay’s nickel all season, logging 59 tackles and steady coverage snaps, but he didn’t practice the final two days of the week. If he can’t go, Hobbs would be the logical replacement, though Hobbs himself is questionable and hasn’t played in three weeks.

Linebacker Quay Walker (neck) and DL Karl Brooks (ankle) were not given game statuses and are full-go. So too are several players who carried minor injury tags earlier in the week: RB Josh Jacobs (knee), QB Jordan Love (left shoulder), WR Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), LB Edgerrin Cooper (shoulder), DL Barryn Sorrell (ankle), RT Zach Tom (back), and G Aaron Banks (rest).
