The University of Northern Colorado volleyball team will play Creighton at 6 p.m. Thursday evening in Omaha, Nebraska in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The unseeded Bears, 17-15 and the Big Sky Conference Tournament champion, will play the third-seeded Blue Jays at Creighton’s D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha.
The 64-team field was announced Sunday evening. First-round matches will be played Thursday-Friday at campus sites.
Creighton, 25-5, is the six-time defending Big East Conference champion, making its 14th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Creighton will also host Utah (15-14) and sixth-seeded University of Northern Iowa (25-5) for the first two rounds. Utah and UNI play their first-round match at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Nebraska, Kentucky, Texas and Pittsburgh are the tournament top four seeds. Nebraska is the overall No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season 30-0.
The tournament runs through Sunday, Dec. 21 with the national championship match at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Thirty-one conferences were awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA, including the Big Sky Conference. UNC beat Idaho State in three sets Nov. 26 to in the Big Sky tournament title. The NCAA filled out the remaining 33 slots with at-large selections.
Also in the tournament is the University of Colorado, a fifth seed hosting American University, Toledo and fourth-seeded Indiana. The Buffs will play Patriot League champion American at 1 p.m. Thursday in the first round.
Colorado defeated UNC in five sets Oct. 28 in Greeley.
Other teams in the tournament UNC faced during the regular-season: fifth-seeded BYU and unseeded Cal Poly. BYU and Cal Poly meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the University of Southern California. USC is a fourth seed and also hosts unseeded Princeton.
BYU beat UNC in five sets Sept. 4 in Provo, Utah. A week later, Cal Poly swept the Bears in three sets in San Luis Obispo, California. The Bears played both matches during a challenge stretch of road matches during their nonconference season.

The Bears also reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and 2022.
UNC is in postseason for the second time in two years.
