Blackhawks 5, Ducks 3 — Three Stars, Key Takeaways ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

It took all of 47 seconds for the Blackhawks to be trailing by two goals. And, with apologies to the comments section, neither one of those goals was Arvid Söderblom‘s fault. The good news is the Ducks waited almost ten full minutes before they scored a third goal. The Blackhawks got two power plays in the final 2:24 of the first period, scoring on the first and the second running over to start the second period. So at least they had one goal on the board before the intermission?

And you know what? If you were one of the folks on Twitter saying you had better things to do than keep this game on your television, I’m not sorry. Because the Blackhawks scored the next two goals in the second period to erase the three-goal deficit completely.

The Blackhawks got a power play early in the third period and… appeared to give up a short-handed goal. But the Ducks were clearly offside, the Blackhawks challenged and the goal was taken off the board. Petr Mrázek got hurt and had to leave the game with 10:51 left in regulation. Unfortunately for Ville Husso, the third shot he faced was from an uncontested superstar about three feet in front of him (less than 60 seconds after he came into the game).

Star 1: Connor Bedard

Bedard will finish the month of November with four games in which he was held without a point. In all four instances, he record a multi-point game immediately following the zero — including Sunday afternoon. He would have had two primary assists if Tyler Bertuzzi didn’t redirect Frank Nazar‘s shot for the first goal of the game for Chicago. Then he scored the go-ahead goal in ridiculous fashion. After his empty net goal inside the final two minutes of regulation, he stared at his own bench and then had words for Anaheim’s. Big time shot caller afternoon for 98.

Star 2: Colton Dach

With Nick Foligno on IR, Dach is getting a big opportunity to be a guy on the power play. Artyom Levshunov did a great job of feeding Teuvo Teräväinen right off the bench and he put the puck on a tee for Dach, who didn’t miss. This goal was huge because it tied the game at three.

Star 3: Frank Nazar

Nazar pumped his fist like he had finally scored a goal for the first time since Oct. 28, but turned around to realize Bertuzzi had tipped it home. Even so, Nazar now has an assist in six of the last eight games in the month. He also won three of a team-high five faceoffs in the first. I thought Nazar was really good in a few moments on the power play, especially in the second period.

Key Takeaways

Here’s Greene’s goal from the second period (note the no-look pass from Bedard):

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) November 30, 2025 The Ducks had a 10-3 advantage in 5-on-5 scoring chances… meaning the Blackhawks had as many even-strength scoring chances as the Ducks had goals in the opening 20 minutes. The second period was not the Blackhawks’ demise on Sunday afternoon. They had a 7-4 scoring chances advantage at 5-on-5 and, most importantly, a 2-0 advantage in shots that went into the net in the middle frame. At the end of the first period, Oliver Moore led the Blackhawks with three hits… but he was minus-two. Moore skated a whole three shifts (2:48) in the second period. I don’t think he was necessarily bad in the first period; he had a couple really good moments in the third period. But he was being used in a checking role for the most part. Jason Dickinson had a really good night, and some of what he did that I liked won’t show up in the box score. He made a physical play a few times when the Blackhawks were a little quiet or slow, and he had no problem going to the front of the net. Connor Murphy led the team with four blocked shots in the first period and added two more in the second. After an atrocious first 11 minutes, Spencer Knight was absolute onions. The officials called a garbage penalty on Alex Vlasic early in the second period; he was accused of a trip on a play where his stick was a couple feet away from the skates in question. Vlasic was understandably not happy; neither were the fans at the United Center. The officials talked it over and took the penalty off the board.
