CBS’s Brandon Marcello also reported that Ole Miss could be in the mix for Sumrall if Lane Kiffin decides to leave Oxford. Sumrall coached linebackers for the Rebels in 2018.

The 43-year old, who played in the SEC at Kentucky from 2002-2004, was the head coach at Troy before landing at Tulane in 2024. He was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2022 and won a pair of Sun Belt titles, while losing just 4 games in 2 seasons.
He picked up right where he left off with the Green Wave. After a solid 9-5 first season with Tulane, Sumrall has led the Green Wave to a 9-2 season with a chance at reaching the AAC Championship game with a win over Charlotte on Saturday.
Obviously, several head coaching vacancies are currently available. That means big programs are scrambling to beat other programs and fill the roles with a limited pool of consistently successful coaches available.
