On a day when the Chicago Bears ran the ball at will, it wasn’t either of the team’s running backs earning the top grade for their performance.
Instead, it was center Drew Dalman who secured the best initial grade from Pro Football Focus after the Bears’ 24-15 win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday. And it’s not as if running backs D’Andre Swift or Kyle Monangai didn’t receive high marks for their efforts on Friday. Swift’s 79.0 grade was the third-best grade PFF gave out in the Week 13 game. Meanwhile, Monangai was fourth-highest-graded Bears player with a 76.8 grade. But in what should serve as a reminder that it all begins in the trenches, Dalman getting the top grade for a Bears player makes sense.

That Drew Dalman’s teammate on the interior offensive line, Jonah Jackson, squeezed in between D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai on the PFF report card. Jackson’s 77.1 grade puts him as the No. 4 highest-graded offensive player who suited up on Friday. The in-season improvement from Jackson has been remarkable. He has gone from a player who looked lost in Week 1 to thriving in Week 13. Who says you can’t make in-season improvements.
Drew Dalman spearheads the Bears offensive line revival
As it stands, this is how the grades look for Bears offensive linemen through 12 games:
Drew Dalman, 82.1 (3rd of 37 centers) Left guard Joe Thuney, 74.0 (t-8th of 81 guards) Right guard Jonah Jackson (t-8th of 81 guards) Right tackle Darnell Wright, 78.5 (15th of 81 tackles)This feels like a good time to stop, recognize, and appreciate that the Bears have four of the NFL’s best offensive linemen. They have two of the league’s top-10 guards, only the Los Angeles Rams can boast such a fun fact. This team also has a top-5 center, which feels inconceivable when you consider the revolving door of disappointment that position has been in recent years. And at right tackle, Chicago’s football team has one of the best in the business. Bears fans used to pray for times like this … and they are now here!

Isn’t it amazing what an offensive line can look like when you invest in it? That quartet above includes two players acquired via trades, one top-10 NFL Draft pick, and a high-priced free-agent signing. And through 13 weeks of the 2025 NFL season, it looks like the money (and draft picks) spent on building this line have been well-spent. And to think, the best could still be yet to come.
DREW DALMAN IS THE BEARS’ ART ROONEY AWARD WINNER
The Bears are playing their best ball right now, and it begins in the trenches. What happens if 2025 second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo figures out the left tackle spot? What is next for this offense if quarterback Caleb Williams takes advantages of the protection he is getting? The upside seems tremendous. And it all begins with Drew Dalman in the middle of that line. Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson called it back in the spring when he underscored why Dalman would be a difference maker. Now, we’re seeing it in action.
