Canadian National Junior Team member Ranumi Eashwarage has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Florida to join the recruiting class of 2027.
It’s a dream come true to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Florida, Gators! Huge thanks to my parents for their endless support and sacrifices, and to my UCSC coaches Dave and Carl for always pushing me to be my best. I’m also so grateful to all the coaches who’ve guided me along the way. Thank you to the amazing coaches at UF—Jack for taking the time to watch me race, Alex for making this whole process so much easier, Whitney for being the first to reach out and motivating me from the start, Kristin for making me feel at home right away, and Coach Nesty for helping solidify my decision. Can’t wait to be a Baby Gator! GO GATORS!!!
Eashwarage joins a growing international contingent at Florida that makes them one of the biggest international-led programs in the Power Four conferences. The Gators currently have 14 men and eight women on their roster who are international, along with five members of their 2026 recruiting class, though Eashwarage is the only current member of their 2027 recruiting class who is coming in from another country.
At the Junior World Championships last summer, Eashwarage qualified for the semifinals in the 50 free, finishing 13th overall in 25.76. She also raced the 100 free prelims, touching in 56.47 to finish 23rd, and she swam the 3rd leg on the women’s 400 freestyle relay final, splitting 55.87.
She also swam at the 3rd stop of the World Cup Tour in Toronto, racing the 50 free (16th — 25.25), 100 free (13th — 54.66), 50 back (24th — 28.28), and the 50 fly (12th — 26.85).

Last season, they finished 2nd behind the University of Texas women’s team, scoring 1179 points to Texas’ 1450.
The Gators have already raced at their midseason meet this year, and Eashwarage’s converted 50 freestyle time would rank 3rd on the current Gators team, coming in behind Beatriz Bezerra and Carly Meeting, putting her on the 200 freestyle relay, and she is only a junior in high school. Her 100 free and 100 fly converted times would be 8th on the current depth chart.
She joins a recruiting class that includes #13 Abby Chan, and Best of the Rest recruits Blakely Hammel and Kate Canales.
