The frontman of Queens of the Stone Age spoke with Stereogum on Wednesday to speak about his experience performing in the Paris Catacombs for their concert film Alive in the Catacombs. This made them the first band permitted to perform in the underground ossuary that holds the remains of over six million people. Filmed in July 2024, the video was released almost a year later on June 5, then the EP of the recording was released on streaming sites eight days later.
On the same topic of death, Homme revealed an experience he had when he was 12 years old, after interviewer Rachel Brown asked him when he learned what death was.

Homme, who is now 52 years old, revealed this happened in Lake Ponderay in Idaho, where he got into a solo boating accident and was thrown off the boat. He was fully clothed, and there was a storm.
Then, he revealed that he was saved by "this guy [pulling] me by my hair and underwear" because he stripped down to nothing while he was trying to swim. Homme joked that "he gave [him] the most enormous wedgie that I've ever known," to lighten up the mood.
