What the Chicago Bears’ Playoff Odds Look Like Entering Thanksgiving Weekend ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

A Chicago Bears playoff odds post being something I look forward to while we’re on the cusp of Thanksgiving is refreshing when you stop and think about where we were at this time last year.

Think about it. We entered the Thanksgiving game in Detroit thinking of it as a potential résumé builder for then-Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson. And we left that game with a snapshot of how dysfunctional things were for a team that was so poorly run that the Bears actually fired a coach during the season. But I digress. Things are so much better now and we have much to discuss as Chicago’s football team travels to Philadelphia for a showdown against the defending Super Bowl champs.

NFC North Standings:

1. CHICAGO BEARS: 8-32. Green Bay Packers: 7-3-13. Detroit Lions: 7-44. Minnesota Vikings: 4-7

The Green Bay Packers just won’t go away. Neither will the Detroit Lions, for that matter. When it comes to the Bears playoff odds, it feels reassuring to know that this team controls its own destiny. However, there is a level of angst building whenever I think about the challenges ahead. But for what it’s worth, I look forward to these challenging games. Expectations are high? So what. That is a good thing in my book. Because when expectations are high for a team, it means there is a belief (somewhere along the line) that something special can happen.

NFL Playoff Picture

This is what the NFL playoff picture looks like after 10 weeks of the 2025 season:

Even though the Bears are still holding steady with the No. 3 seed in the NFC, the calculations from NFL media give the Green Bay Packers (76%) and Detroit Lions (76%) better odds at making the playoffs than the Bears (61%). Those numbers made my head turn. Sure, the Bears playoff odds are up 3 percentage points. But the Lions having better playoff odds than the Bears despite currently on the outside looking in at the playoff picture is mind-bending. In the end, the pressure of playing two games against the Packers and one against the Lions after December 1 will either bust pipes or make diamonds.

The stretch run is loaded with potential opportunities for the Bears to put their stamp on this season. Head Coach Ben Johnson could enter the NFL Coach of the Year race and give Mike Vrabel a run for his money. Quarterback Caleb Williams can continue rewriting the record books at Halas Hall if he continues to play at a high level. There are so many players and coaches with something to prove. What better time than now to make the most of the opportunities at your feet?

Now, let’s take an updated look at the Chicago Bears playoff odds entering their Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bears Playoff Odds (via ESPN)

Let’s check out the latest Bears playoff odds from ESPN, whose Football Power Index provides updated odds for every team to make the playoffs, win its division, make the Super Bowl and win the whole freakin’ thing.

Chicago Bears Playoff Odds (ESPN):

BEARS: 61.8% playoffs, 23.1% division, 3.1% make Super Bowl, 1.2% win Super Bowl Green Bay: 79.7% playoffs, 45.6% division, 12.6% make Super Bowl, 7.1% win Super Bowl Detroit: 71.6% playoffs, 31.3% division, 10.1% make Super Bowl, 5.5% win Super Bowl Minnesota: 0.3% playoffs, 0.0% division, 0.0% make Super Bowl, 0.0% win Super Bowl

In case you’re curious, ESPN’s FPI has the Los Angeles Rams (16.0%) and Philadelphia Eagles (10.2%) as the only teams whose odds of winning the Super Bowl are north of 10 percent. Meanwhile, the Chiefs (8.2%) have the fourth-highest odds despite being on the bubble and looking in at the playoff picture. Go figure.

More Bears Playoff Odds:

Let the record show that ESPN isn’t the only show in town. Other sites have looks at the Bears’ playoff odds. Let’s take a look at some of them.

For instance, FTN — which uses DVOA ratings to help cook up its postseason percentages — has the Bears playoff odds at 51.4 percent. By FTN’s numbers, Chicago also has a 15.9 percent chance of winning the division. The Bears’ best path to making the postseason might be via the wild card, where FTN gives the team a 35.6 percent chance of making the postseason through that path. And if you want to get even more granular, their best odds of making the playoffs appears to be as the No. 7 seed (21.1%).

Chicago Bears Playoff Odds (The Athletic):

The Athletic has also a playoff simulator that shows the Bears with a 49 percent chance to make the playoffs. Here is the breakdown:

Make the playoffs: 49 percent No. 1 seed: < 1 percent Wild card: 33 percent Host a wild-card game: 15 percent Out of the playoffs: 51 percent

How important is Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles to the Bears playoff odds?

A win would boost the Bears playoff odds to 69 percent. Nice! But if they lose, it would drop the team’s odds of making it into the postseason to 43 percent. Not nice!

A part of me wants to just let the moment sink in and enjoy where the Bears are in the standings right now. We have written through some lean years on this site, so I know better than to not enjoy the moment. Simply put, you never know how long the good times will last so you would be foolish not to enjoy them when they’re staring you in the face. But with that being said, there is a part of me that wants more for the Bears than to just be in the playoff hunt. A victory on Black Friday against the Eagles would give this team a signature win — and a boost to its playoff odds.
