Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are surging, but no one in the league is hotter than Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams right now.

That, and more, in this week’s NFL playoff picture check-in.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the New York Jets on Sunday, marking their fifth consecutive victory. After a 1-5 start, Baltimore is now 6-5 and atop the AFC North thanks to some help from the Bears, who beat the Steelers this week. The Ravens’ rocky start, mainly due to injuries, was always viewed as a bit of a fluke. Now they’re firmly in the AFC playoff picture with a home matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals on deck on Thanksgiving, and then a date with the Steelers that could decide the division.

The New England Patriots took care of the Bengals on Sunday, becoming the NFL’s first 10-win team this season, moving them to the top of the AFC playoff picture after Week 12. The Pats host the Giants on Monday this week before their bye week. On the other side of the bye, New England has Buffalo, Baltimore, New York (Jets), and Miami on the schedule, which could have them in prime position for an opening-round bye in the AFC playoffs.

The Colts stayed in the third seed this week despite an overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, which, ironically, knocked the Chiefs down a peg in the playoff bubble. Indianapolis has a tough stretch of games ahead, with Houston in town in Week 13 and a trip to Jacksonville the following week. Their remaining schedule features matchups with Houston (twice), Jacksonville (twice), Seattle, and San Francisco. All of those teams are in the hunt for a postseason berth and are playing well.

Best of the rest …

Just when it looked like the Bills were humming, they ran into a speedbump in Houston. They’ve got a pair of AFC North matchups on the docket against Pittsburgh and Cincy before they head to New England for a massive meeting with the Patriots in Week 15. The Chargers were on a bye this week and will host the Raiders on Sunday. After that, they have the Eagles and the Chiefs in Weeks 14 and 15. Jacksonville escaped Arizona with an overtime win, and they’ve got a favorable matchup with the Titans this weekend before a home date with the Colts in Week 14. The Los Angeles Rams are on a different level right now than anyone in the NFC, and perhaps, anyone in the NFL. The Rams have won six straight and demolished the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. Matthew Stafford is running away with the MVP race, with 2,830 yards, 30 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a 113.7 passer rating this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles stumbled this week against the Dallas Cowboys and have a short turnaround before they take on the Chicago Bears on Black Friday. Philly and Chicago will be battling it out for the No. 2 seed in the NFC on Friday.

The Bucs took a hit on Sunday against L.A., and Baker Mayfield’s health is now a concern after he suffered an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder late in the first half at SoFi Stadium. Tampa has three straight games at home against the Cardinals, Saints, and Falcons before heading to Carolina in Week 16.

Best of the rest …

The Panthers had an opportunity to gain some ground on Tampa this weekend, but couldn’t seize the opportunity, falling to the 49ers on Monday night despite three Brock Purdy interceptions. The Packers rolled the Vikings on Sunday, setting up an NFC North clash with the Lions on Thanksgiving with plenty of playoff seeding implications. The Seahawks host the Minnesota Vikings this week, and can all but end the Vikings’ season with a win, while keeping pace with the rest of the NFC playoff picture.
