ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As Thanksgiving and the holiday season approach, the community is stepping up to make sure everyone has access to meals. Several food drives are happening in the Rochester area.
Earlier this month, the community came together to provide for local SNAP recipients as the food assistance program faced uncertainty amid the government shutdown. Even though the shutdown is over and SNAP payments have returned to normal, over 160,000 people across the region still face food insecurity, according to Foodlink. Here is how you can help.

Fans who donate will get a voucher that can be redeemed for two complimentary tickets for the Amerks home game on Wednesday, Dec. 3, against Utica. You can learn more here.
In addition, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, two Amerks players will sign autographs and meet with fans from 1 to 2 p.m. in the main lobby of Blue Cross Arena. Fans can receive an autograph with a contribution to the food drive.
