Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Aiden Moran, a finalist at the 2025 Eastern Zone Senior Championship, will be heading across the country next fall, as he has announced his commitment to swim for California State University, Bakersfield starting in the fall of 2026.

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career to swim division I at California State Bakersfield. I would like to thank my parents, teammates, and coaches who helped me reach this point. Lastly I would like to thank Coach Eric and the rest of the coaching staff at CSUB for this opportunity. Looking forward to the next four years at CSUB. Go Roadrunners!”

A native of New York, Moran currently attends Lockport High School, where he has been a member of the school’s swimming and diving team all four years. Moran also trains year-round with Clarence Swim Club, where he primarily specializes in mid-distance and distance free and fly.

Moran turned in a series of top performances early on last season, posting four lifetime best times at the LESD Mark Braun swim meet in November. He placed 4th in the 1650 free (16:15.90 – PB), 13th in the 200 fly (2:02.96 – SB), 29th in the 100 fly (53.93 – PB) and 30th in the 200 free (1:48.27 – SB). Moran also finished 9th in the 500 free (4:48.56) after posting a best time of 4:46.99 during prelims, in addition to posting a best time in the 100 free (49.82) and season-best time in the 100 back (57.88).

A few months later, Moran competed at the NYSPHSAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association) Section VI Class A Championship, where he won two championship titles. Moran prevailed in the 200 free (1:45.89), logging a new lifetime best, and the 500 free (4:49.81).

More recently, Moran raced at the Eastern Zone Senior Championships (LCM) in August, turning in a series of lifetime best swims. He took 3rd in the 1500 free (16:39.87), 8th in the 800 free (8:48.05), 9th in the 400 free (4:13.17) and 19th in the 100 fly (59.58), clocking personal bests in each event. Moran also set a new lifetime best in the 200 fly (2:13.90) after finishing 9th in prelims, but opted out of racing the event in finals.

A Division I Mid-Major program, Cal State Bakersfield competes in the Big West Conference against the likes of UC San Diego, the University of Hawaii and Grand Canyon University. The Roadrunners placed 5th out of six teams at the Big West Conference Championships last season. To earn a second swim at the 2025 championship, it took times of 1:39.93/4:40.83 in the 200/500 free and 48.55/1:57.38 in the 100/200 fly, putting Moran outside the cutoff in most of his top events; he would have placed 12th in the 1650 free.

On the team itself, Moran would have ranked 2nd in the 1650 free, 3rd in the 1000 free, 6th in both the 500 free and 200 fly and 7th in the 100 fly last season. We’ll have to wait and see how the roster shakes out after this season, but Moran should be a strong contributor for the Roadrunners when he arrives in Bakersfield.

On choosing to attend Cal State Bakersfield, Moran said: “I chose CSUB for the incredible team atmosphere, and the incredible coaching staff.”

Joining Moran in the pool next season will be Luke Slankard from Colorado, who primarily specializes in breast, fly and IM and should make for a strong training partner over their four years together.
