Brighton
The town of Brighton held its Veterans Day ceremony at the Brighton Veterans Memorial in Buckland Park. The annual celebration honored Jewish war veteran Gary Ginsburg.
The ceremony also included a presentation of colors by the Buffalo Soldiers.
Hochstein School
The Hochstein School in Rochester marked a significant holiday with a ceremony in the morning. The Bells of Peace rang as part of a national commemoration of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. This phrase refers to the time when the armistice ending World War I went into effect on Nov. 11, 1918.
David Hochstein, the violinist for whom the North Plymouth Avenue music school is named, fought and died in that war.
Manchester
A ceremony was held in Manchester to honor Air Force Technical Sgt. Kory Wade. The town dedicated a portion of State Route 21 in his memory.
Wade, a graduate of Red Jacket High School, lost his life during a training exercise in 2023. The newly named highway stretches between State Route 96, Latting Road, and Standpipe Road, passing directly in front of his family’s home.
