2025 RUSSIAN SHORT COURSE NATIONALS

Friday, November 7th – Wednesday, November 12th Kazan, Russia SCM (25m) Live Results

Day four of the 2025 Russian Short Course Nationals saw 25-year-old Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov grab two golds to continue his campaign.

The versatile ace first raced in the final of the men’s 50m backstroke, where he topped the podium in a time of 22.43.

That was enough to hold off Egor Kornev, the on-fire 21-year-old who already ripped an outing of 44.99 in the men’s 100m freestyle last night. In this back event, Kornev settled for silver in 22.52 followed by Pavel Samusenko‘s time of 22.65 as the 3rd place finisher.

Kolesnikov’s lifetime best in the 50m back remains at the 22.11 he logged two years ago, although his effort this evening now dethrones Hungary’s Hubi Kos to rank #1 in the world at the moment.

Next on Kolesnikov’s list was the final of the men’s 100m IM where he found success again via his result of 51.02.

That handily defeated the field, with the next-closest competitor represented by Aleksey Sudarev who touched in 52.33.

Mikhail Shcherbakov, the newly minted World Junior Record holder in the 200m IM, bagged the bronze in 52.37.

Kolesnikov now ranks 5th in the world on the season.

Kirill Prigoda already unleashed a super swift performance of 55.51 in the 100m breast and the 29-year-old doubled up with another victory in the 200m.

Prigoda punched a result of 2:01.91 as the sole swimmer to delve under the 2:02 barrier. In doing so, he registered a performance just outside his 10 best. The veteran’s PB remains at the 2:00.16 from when he became the world champion in 2018.

On the women’s side, LCM 200 breaststroke world record holder Evgenia Chikunova got it done for gold in the SCM edition of the event.

The 20-year-old dominantly beat the domestic field, posting 2:17.35 as the only swimmer to enter sub-2:20 territory.

Vitalina Simonova was next to the wall in 2:20.82 followed by Ekaterina Ereshko who bagged the bronze well behind in 2:24.43.

Chikunova has been as fast as 2:14.70 in her career, although tonight’s outing renders her #2 in the world, sitting only behind Kate Douglass of the United States who owns the top mark in 2:13.45 from the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup.
