The Weld County Veterans Memorial in Greeley will host a Veterans Day ceremony Tuesday.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the memorial on the southeast side of Bittersweet Park at 16th Street and 35th Avenue.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Brian Ivers, who served five combat tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, will speak at the event, with Northridge High School’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps conducting the presentation of colors, Isamar Chavira singing the national anthem and the Greeley Central High School band playing music.
Shawn Harmer, a member of the Weld County Veterans Memorial Committee, will be the master of ceremonies, and Pastor John Musil of Living Grace Baptist Church will give the invocation and benediction. Union Colony Marine Corps League 1093 will perform a rifle salute and taps.
Greeley VFW Post and Auxiliary 2121 will offer a free soup luncheon to veterans and their families following the program from 12:30-2 p.m. at 2514 7th Ave. The public is invited.
The Weld County Veterans Memorial Association conducts repairs and maintenance to the memorial. Donations to the Weld County Veterans Memorial Association are welcomed at PO Box 1016, Greeley, CO 80632. The association also offers annual memberships for $25 per person.
