DENVER (KDVR) — Drivers who frequently travel around the Alameda Avenue and Santa Fe Drive intersection in Denver may want to plan a different route next week.
The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway is planning on replacing railroad tracks on Santa Fe Drive just north of Cedar Avenue, closing Santa Fe Drive there for five days from Monday, Nov. 10 at 4 a.m. to Friday, Nov. 14 a 5 p.m., according to a city of Denver press release.

Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure urges drivers to avoid the Alameda and Santa Fe intersection altogether if possible and plan alternate routes during the five-day closure. Officials also encouraged drivers who use the Alameda Avenue exit on Interstate 25 to consider a different exit during the week.
The official detour route for northbound drivers on Santa Fe Drive will be to turn west onto Alameda Avenue to Federal Boulevard. Drivers can also turn east onto Alameda Avenue.
Local traffic can still continue north on Santa Fe Drive to the Cedar Avenue closure, but has limited options for continuing travel: to continue north onto Interstate 25 or turn around south on Kalamath Drive.
