The Angels have added veteran pitching coach Mike Maddux to their staff, the first known member of new manager Kurt Suzuki’s staff.
The Angels are expected to formally announce their entire coaching staff once it’s complete.
Maddux has been a pitching coach for four teams: the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals. He had two stints at the Rangers’ pitching coach, most recently the past three seasons under manager Bruce Bochy.
The Rangers reportedly offered Maddux a deal to stay in Texas, under new manager Skip Schumaker, but he decided to go to the Angels instead.
Maddux, 64, led the Rangers to a major-league best 3.47 ERA in 2025. That staff included established stars like Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi.
Maddux had two stints as the Rangers’ pitching coach. He was also there for their back-to-back World Series appearances, under former Angels manager Ron Washington, in 2010 and 2011.
Maddux, 64, is the older brother of Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux.
