Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sara Henkel from Largo, Florida has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic things at Providence College in fall 2026.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Providence College! I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates for helping me get to this point. I especially want to thank Coach Cashel for her constant support and encouragement throughout my swimming career. I would also like to thank Coach O’Neil (JO) and Coach Proulx for this incredible opportunity. GO FRIARS!”

Henkel swims for West Florida Lightning Aquatics out of Indian Rocks Beach, FL. She finished her long course season at the Florida Senior Championships. There she posted a lifetime best in the 200 fly with a 2:33.57 for 13th. Her highest finish came in the 400 IM as she was 10th in a 5:34.40 but was faster in prelims with a 5:31.05, about three seconds off her lifetime best.

She began her senior year at Osceola Fundamental High School this fall and represented the school last November at the Florida Class 3A State Championships. She swam to a 13th place finish in the 200 free with a 1:55.58 and was slightly faster in prelims with a lifetime best 1:54.46. She also swam a personal best 5:06.66 in prelims of the 500 free for 11th before finishing 12th in finals.

Henkel’s Best SCY Times Are:

200 free: 1:54.46 500 free: 5:06.66 1650 free: 18:04.87 200 fly: 2:12.36 100 fly: 59.18

The Providence women finished 7th out of 7 teams at the 2025 Big East Championships with 475 points. Butler was 6th with 570 points.

Based on her best times, Henkel has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level as her best time in the 200 and 500 freestyles would have made the ‘C’ final. Providence had two women in the ‘C’ final of the 500 free and one in the ‘B’ final and four in the ‘C’ final of the 200 free.

Henkel will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Asmara Pina, Megan Graeter, Lily Malone, Ashlyn Wills, and Maggie Jaeger.
