The San Diego Fleet Week Foundation has canceled all Fleet Week San Diego events planned for Broadway Pier Nov. 5-9, it was announced Monday.
Fleet Week will be unable to hold Broadway Pier activities because the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard cannot provide ships or equipment due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, according to the foundation.
The canceled events include:
Student STEM Days Nov. 5-7 Community breakfast aboard USS Midway Museum Nov. 5 Public visiting Nov. 7-9 Veterans & Military Boat Parade Nov. 8“We’re disappointed, as our Sailors look forward every year to Fleet Week events, but Navy planners will begin preparing for our participation in the 2026 Fleet Week as early as January,” said Navy spokesman Brian O’Rourke. “San Diego is the quintessential Navy town, and our uniformed men and women appreciate the ongoing support and interest they receive from the local community.”
Organizers said they have been able to continue or modify several activities. The Fleet Week Football Classic on Nov. 1 will go on as planned at Snapdragon Stadium, Military Family Day on Nov. 9 will be held at a different venue and the Enlisted Recognition Luncheon on Nov. 21 will take place at the San Diego Zoo on a new date.
The Veterans and Military Concert, the 250th Navy & Marine Corps Birthday Celebration and 5K Run/Family Walk are still pending resolution of the shutdown, according to the foundation.
