An Aurora police sergeant who lives in Denver is accused of sharing images and videos of child sex abuse and trying to solicit a minor, according to an arrest affidavit.
Aaron Jacob “Jake” Bunch, 47, was arrested Oct. 8 after an investigation by the FBI and Denver Police Department into tips submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Bunch worked as a school resource officer and as a supervisor for resource officers while at the Aurora Police Department. He is charged with three felonies related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material online, court records show.
According to the heavily-redacted affidavit, the FBI began investigating Bunch after a July tip about two suspects trading images of child sex abuse and linked one of the suspects to an account on the messaging app Kik.
Investigators connected that tip to two other tips, one from June about a Kik user uploading six images and three videos of child sex abuse involving a child younger than 12 years old and one from July about Bunch using a payment app “for grooming and attempted solicitation of a minor” in January 2024.
