But the rabbi decided to throw caution to the wind, pledging his commitment to Joanne in swoon-worthy romcom style – despite not knowing how they were going to make it work.
“I’ve always felt, in real life, that the real relationship is figuring out how to merge your lives. It’s like: do I like your friends? Do you like my friends? Do you like each other’s families? How do you want to spend a weekend together?
In a separate interview with Vanity Fair, Foster discussed Joanne needing to “figure out how to be in a healthy relationship, and what that looks like.”
So, will Joanne and Noah make it — or will their differences simply prove insurmountable?

Nobody Wants This season 2 plot: What will happen?
She then reluctantly broke off their relationship and told Noah not to follow her, even though she desperately wanted him to, and that, it seemed, was that.
"So, how does this work?" asked Joanne.
So, Joanne and Noah are set to make another go of it, despite the elephant remaining firmly in the room.
Will she eventually decide to convert after learning more about Noah's religion and deciding that she also wants it for herself, and not just for her boyfriend?
Or will they continue as they are, starting their own quiet revolution within this particular branch of the LA Jewish scene as they refuse to bow to what everyone else demands of them?
She went on to tease that Joanne and Noah would likely end up together in the end, explaining: "I don’t think this is the kind of show to rob the audience of what they want to see. I think this is a show where you want to get what you want."
But of course, that is easier said than done.
“I think that’s what the show can explore. What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes dimming yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally, you grow together and you’re better for it — you don’t have to lop off a limb.”
